Legendary One-Pan Eggs

The most mind-blowing dish I had during my ENTIRE stay at Turkey was surprisingly – scrambled eggs. In Turkey, they are called menemen, and mind you they are NOT your regular eggs.

Scrambled with fresh tomatoes, sweet peppers, and seasoned with spices, this classic Turk breakfast is served hot in a pan with your preferred ‘special’ – cheese / beef / chicken / you get the idea.

I chanced upon a restaurant where the locals flock to (key point!) along this street at Sirkeci, a strategic location where the must-see Spice Market, Grand Bazaar, and Gulhane Park are located:

And I feel confident enough to say that they serve the best scrambled eggs I ever tasted in my life!

{Humble shop serving eggs fit for a king, or queen}

{How can one not try Turkish coffee at least once when in Turkey, right?}

{But to be honest, Turkish coffee in general tastes quite shitty. I promise one’s better off with çay (tea)}

{Where locals meet to have their morning chats, board game sessions, or read the newspapers}

{This tiny grey restaurant is run by two old men. Here is one, adding cheese to my menemen in-the-making}

{*Flavored secrets in the air*}

{Dig in! Menemen with Cheese, humbly priced at RM10}
