Let’s Feel Fit Again!
Anyone feeling like they already gained 5 pounds although we are only halfway through Chinese New Year? Whether it is fat, bloat, or excessive cuteness (as É puts it), what’s more important is to feel great. It’s not always about the number on your scale. As long as you feel healthy and fit, naturally you will feel like a million dollar babe! Good vibes and confidence – that’s what we should be aiming for. Today I’m sharing 5 simple ways I practice to reverse the damage done. What’s hard though, like anything relating to losing weight, is the discipline to follow through.
1. Adopt the psyllium husk routine.
Every morning, I’d drink 2 glasses of water – the first glass with a teaspoon of psyllium husk and the second with a teaspoon of pure honey mixed with warm water. This is also when I take my (slow-release) Vitamin C or I’d usually forget later during the day.
Both psyllium husk and pure honey makes for a powerful combo that helps flush out whatever it is you need to get out of your gut to feel lighter, if not fabulous. Hello, flat tummy!
2. Fix a H20 schedule.
It is in my (annual) new year resolution to drink 1.5 litres of water a day. Clearly, it is not an easy one to keep, which explains why it has to be renewed annually. However, fixing a H2O schedule has not just helped me stick to my resolution better – it also refrains me from only realising how thirsty I am after meal; often resulting in catching up on my water intake and ending up feeling puffier than a bloat fish.
3. Eat digestive fruits before meals.
This winning trick I learned from my mum is my favorite (because I get to eat it). When we can, we eat half a papaya or dragonfruit before dinner. This ensures that the fruits’ vitamins are absorb better, on top of filling up the deep abyss of your tummy so that you won’t treat it like a rice bucket after. Bonus: Flushing out wastage will be a bliss tomorrow.
4. Deflating with massage and breathing techniques.
Before bed, try this: inhale deep (4 counts), exhale (6 counts) and repeat for 20 to 30 minutes. One of the many causes of bloat is improper breathing. This exercise will help calm you down and regulate your breathing pattern once again.
If you have a 2kg dumb bell, hold it upright, press it against your tummy gently and move it clockwise. In case you’re wondering, I didn’t make these up – I learned them from a M.D., who is also the founder of The Digestive Center for Women.
5. Get active in Soft Snug slimming hot pants.
If you’re looking for a good pair of hot pants online, slimming pants for big thighs, or even sleeping slimming pants in Malaysia, this might just be the one for you. I’m not saying that this is a pair of magic pants that helps weight loss by just socking in it and doing nothing, but by wearing it while working out, taking a walk at the park, or doing houseworks, its specially designed fabrics boost your workouts when you’re active, which means you burn calories more effectively.
I find myself wearing it more often than not; at home and out. It’s sporty, snuggly and comfy. You can get a pair of Soft Snug here and more on their other collections here.
