Kuang Si Waterfall

Just like Cambodia, when it comes to Laos, the fun star is not the capital but Siem Reap (second post here), and Luang Prabang. Tucked deep in the mentioned latter, nestles a gorgeous waterfall named Kuang Si, where countless jaw-dropping cascades form baby blue pools of all sizes to suit your heart’s desire.

We took a tuk-tuk trip via the village that broke and healed my heart, passing by thirsty trees that cast shy shadows upon thy skin. Our humble arrival was greeted by two rows of stalls opposite one another selling keropok, handicrafts, and most importantly: food for the famished travelers after a long bumpy ride.

I hope you are a fan of dogs, because you will be dining with them around your dining table.

I also hope you like your food organic, because here we eat like Tarzan; where chickens are slaughtered from their coop when there’s demand, fishes caught from the river streaming at the back of the restaurants, while the greens harvested from villagers’ gardens.

Barbecues, roasts and grills accompanied by Asian salads with tangy heat seem to be the main staple; giving you even more reasons to love this place if you have not already.

Right before entering the waterfall sphere is an adorable (yes, adorable) bear rescue center. While they are cute and all that, my advise is to not spend too much time there, but to ‘attack’ the waterfall first while the sun is still shining because:

1. I kid you not when I say the water is ICE cold. The later it gets, the colder it becomes.

2. You want to capture nice pictures while it is still bright, as there are many generous trees providing shadows around.

{Spot me, the live bear!}

{I noticed that bears’ sleeping positions are pretty opposed compared to human beings}

{I also learned, by posing as Goldilocks between the 3 bears, that their hands are actually placed like so when on neutral}

{Can you count how many black bears are on top of each other in this picture?}

{“If you don’t want to spend 10 years in here, what makes you think bears do?”}
