Medan

I was supposed to visit Nepal with Patrick and Gan, two of my high school classmates, a week after the earthquake. Everyone was trying to get out of the country then, so our trip was postponed to the same time next year.

Desperate for an escapade during the long weekend, Patrick and I made an impromptu decision to make Medan happen. It is hard for me to say this because I love traveling and I love to explore different cities, but what I can say about Medan is that it is really not worth the trip.

We finished Medan in one morning and spent the rest of the day reading, lounging, and getting massages from our hotel room. While that was also great because I love the idea of being away, in this city there is nothing much besides Istana Maimoon and Mesjid Raya to visit and luckily, a wide array of street food to keep the tummy happy.
