Valentine’s Day Menu 2018
É was first to hear of the name ‘Blue Lotus‘ in Cingapore. When he told me about it, he was amazed and very keen to try out one of their restaurants. So the moment Alexis sent me news that we earned the opportunity to do their Valentine menu food tasting for Poteytoh, of course I said yes! (Sorry, husband.) If you have been wondering what to do for Valentine’s day dinner or have been undecided on which Valentine’s Day restaurant in Singapore to choose, look no further! I found an answer:

First things first – cocktails. Order a Signature Blue Lotus and if you like fruity, refreshing drinks, try Ipanema Mist. Take a sip, pause, and take a look into each other’s eyes, lovingly. Cheesy much? You might just find yourself doing that when you are at Blue Lotus Mediterranean Kitchen + Bar‘s romantic al fresco ambience.
1. Special Mezze Platter
Start off with a fabulous platter accompanied by Smoked Oyster Dip (my fav!), Portuguese-inspired Cod Brandade and hummus served with freshly grilled pita. Dip dip dip and chat away!
2. Prawn Bisque
You are staring at a bowl made after hours of hard work. Heaps of prawn shells are fried beforehand to obtain what the chef calls “prawn oil”. The soup is cooked from broth added with light cream, topped with tiger prawns grilled separately. Its texture, as smooth as your beau.
3. a) Spiced-Rubbed Mediterranean Sea Bass
Designed for ladies who prefer to opt for a lighter meal, this fish served with roasted cherry tomatoes, peppers, zucchinis and a side of olives in tomato sauce is a perfect choice for body con dress fans. Each mouthful promises a BURST of fresh Mediterranean flavors.
3. b) Chargrilled Angus Oyster Blade
For a hearty, wholesome main, go for this high quality steak cooked using the sous-vide method, which results in the beautiful marble-like effect you see here. Its texture is even better. Served with a side of roasted cherry tomatoes, asparagus, foie gras butter and red wine sauce reduction to win you over.
4. 70% Dark Chocolate Pot de Crème
Dessert easily became my favorite part of dinner during the tasting. Also made sous vide style, the sweetness here is balanced by the addition of fresh strawberries and mint berries compote. I can easily finish 2 of these!
