Can I just scream, because I’ve just visited King’s Landing! Sitting on the steps of Girona Cathedral‘s grand stairs (where Jaime Lannister rode on his horse to save Queen Margaery from her walk of atonement), I couldn’t help beaming with delight thinking how lucky I am. This was also home for the real Braavos, where a-girl-has-no-name was ‘blind’ in the first episode of Season 6.
To all my readers who don’t watch Game of Thrones, this doesn’t mean that I expect you to. There is definitely more to Girona than just the cathedral. Buy cherries – lots of them – and get your lips stained (as pictured above) as you enjoy the walled town’s winding alleys and towers. Take a great picture at Eiffel Bridge built by Gustave Eiffel before he built the Eiffel Tower in Paris.
Here I also had the tastiest handcrafted bocadillo, which is simply incomparable to any sandwiches out there. The marriage of homemade relish with crumbly vintage cheese, layered with a few leaves of lettuce for freshness: #OMG. That said, don’t miss out on their artisan food products made of local produce where quality speaks for itself.
This cosy medieval town offers many surprises you can’t imagine. At the end of this post, you’d see me embracing its oldest legend – kissing the lioness’s butt to return again. For Girona, I would.
