The best travels happen when you:

a) don’t have to run after time

b) allow yourself to be your own map

c) stay with the locals instead of in a hotel OR

d)  have a best friend who is also a great host, providing you the warmest welcome ever everyday!

One of the must-do rituals in my annual OZ travel itinerary is to skip the party and stay in at the love birds’ nest to either cook a hearty dinner together, or watch a good movie on the lazy couch. Poor Huseyin got kicked out of bed and had to sleep on the couch for 2 weeks!! (i couldn’t thank the charming couple more for their massive generosity.) That cosy night we treated ourselves like King and Queens; serving cold cuts, great cheeses, cocktail nuts, grapes, accompanied by the compulsory Australian wine as we watched Issiz Adam – a Turkish film i love so much i had to fly it all over to Brisbane to share it with them. As i write this post, i must admit that reminiscing the past has never felt so bitter sweet . . .

A ‘recipe’ inspired by the Turk: a marriage between sweet, refreshing chunky watermelon and rich, creamy, feta cheese that is just absolutely stunning. Try it at home!

They say a person needs just 3 things to be truly happy in this world:
someone to love, something to do, and something to hope for . . .

Thank you, love birds for being such incredible hosts throughout my entire stay. ♡
