Chicken Soup for the Soul

They say, one way to “tie a man’s heart” is by pleasing his tummy. I don’t know how true that statement is, but it sure does work naturally for my mum, cuz she loves cooking.  xD

Generally, all mothers love their children. There are many ways mummies can show their love. My mum shows hers in countless ways that I can’t show you, but one thing I’m sure of is :

How a mother presents her DISHES to her family, tells it all !

IMG_0818

I would say that my mother’s love is like this bowl of macaroni chicken soup. It’s warming to the tummy, delights the heart, pleases the eyes, and overall it feels like a halo embracing us all…  <3

I managed to capture some shots of the various variety of her cooking when my whole family came to stay. We had everything from Western to Asian to FUSION!!! omg lol~

Western :

IMG_0337

My mum made Cinnamon Rolls. I mean, SERIOUSLY. My mum made Cinnamon Rolls! The ones you see at Cinnabon? :O

She uses real ground almonds in those twirls too, saying that almond promotes good memory (so my brother can memorize his medical notes better hahaha…)!

Oh and mind you that omelet contains button mushrooms and CHEESE!!! *yumsss*

IMG_0338

Hot dog and alfalfa salad. I don’t like alfalfa, but oh well. Mum did it FOR ME! (our mother & daughter Diet Plan lols~)

IMG_0816

Prawn burger ala Bubba Gump! No prawn burgers can get more REAL than this. Even Mc D’s seasonal prawn burgers are like what. Vegetarian prawn patty?!  -_____-

IMG_0922

Homemade egg-mayo garden sandwich (ou yea mum made that bread you see over there), strawberry pancake (mum did THAT too!), and a small shot of concentrated fresh orange juice. *screams yummy yummyy yummyyy!*

Japanese (Bento) :

with seaweed cut-outs too… ^^

IMG_0806

and strawberries! The green thingy you see are not petai but broad beans. Each of us had 5 – I never knew anyone else except mum who is so willing to do extra work like that.

Korean :

IMG_0859

Korean glass noodles in Korean red sauce *slurps man, SLURPS~!!!*

Chinese Cooking :

IMG_0340

Claypot Chicken Rice (wrapped in aluminum foil to capture the heat so that it still remains warm until the delivery successfully reaches my brother at UPM wtf)

IMG_0359

The above comes with chicken and turnip soup broth. Not forgetting the dried scallop for that scrumptiouslicious taste!

IMG_0821

Porridge set ala teo chew; with many many healthy lauk pauk.

Fusion :

IMG_0857

If you look carefully, you’ll see that mum only gives me 1/2 bowl of rice (remember my theory of 1 bowl of rice a day?). This comes with grilled chicken (non-oily), corn-off-the-cob, and some wedges.

360 Dessert :

We always have no space for fruits after all that good ol’ meals, so we guiltily reject mum’s offer (especially when it comes to papayas because we grow them at home).

But when she does this…..

IMG_0860

Our hearts melt away and we never succeeded in saying no to her effort.

Oh and hey guys, since Chinese New Year is around the corner, I’ll (obviously) be very busy running around and might not have as much time to blog or Facebook my CNY pictures.

Therefor, I suggest ya’ll who still don’t have a Twitter account, please Please PLEASE get one right now! Even my brother Eugene is procrastinating about it. URGH~ Why are men so hard to convince!? lol

Perhaps it’s because I don’t cook AS WELL AS mum. Perhaps. So, I’m gonna use my picha to lure you into the Tweeting business:

IMG_7338

HAHAHA!

I’m just joking. But come think about it – even if I can’t cook at all, there’ll still be many updates on my mum’s awesome dishes and DON’T FORGET ABOUT THE COOKIES!!!

She’s gonna bake some really. interesting. looking. cookies~ xD

For those who already has a Twitter account, c’mmon I’m sure you’ll be busy running around like me too. I can hardly name someone who would sit in front of his/her laptop during Chinese New Year – that’s damn pathetic okay.

The only way to go is to register your phone to Channel X’s Twitter RM1 promo. It is STILL available, so hurry!!

That way, you can receive Twitpics from me and my mummy instantly without having to constantly check out your Twitter page on your desktop this festive season.

So? What’s your favourite home cook food? Share with me!  :D

WOW! your mum’s cooking is OUT OF THIS WORLD!
    everything looks so ‘fine-dining’!
She can open up her own restaurant already.
Or is she already doing that?
