go Blake Lively today!
2010
I hope this is the makeup post you girls have been waiting for. I know there are many many out there, but everyone does theirs differently. This is how I do mine 90% of the time. All products introduced below, are my daily favourites.
Pictures wise, I could’ve done a lot better but anyhow, I still do hope this helps nonetheless. Maybe once you girls have collected all the products, I’ve already mastered the way of doing a professional makeup tutorial post.

After watching Gossip Girl, I realized that my makeup style is very much like Blake Lively’s. Somehow, cool colors like purple, blue and even green look weird on me. Therefor I must say that this tut post is all about earthy tones. (:
This kind of make up is really great as it works well in a wide variety of situations. I mean you could quite easily be wearing it for work but it would also work for when you are on a hot date. Then again it wouldn’t look out of place when you come home from work and browse various things online like the Seventy Seven Diamonds website or go social networking sites with your friends. It’s really versatile you see and that’s why I use it and so does Blake Lively on Gossip Girl.
My stuff.
NOW LET’S START!
1. Makeup Base
I have to use this before anything else. I can even wear this without foundation!
After moisturizing your face, dab on a small amount of Biotherm Corrective Makeup Base in purple.
Purple neutralizes the redness of your skin and evens out skin tone colour. Don’t be greedy and put too much or you’ll end up looking too fair!
If you have tanned skin, please consult the Biotherm lady on which colour suits you most – green, pink, or there’s even the glitter one I’ve yet to try~ But usually we use purple.
2. Foundation
I find it hard to live without Lancome‘s divine and comfort makeup with the 14 hours of retouch free foundation technology.
Of course you might still have to retouch your face with press powder after 8 hours maybe?? But can you imagine a foundation which can’t even promise us a 10?! WORSE.
3. Concealer
I’m using this stick from MAC. It is like a crayon; which means easy application. You’ll have to find the right tone that is light/dark enough to cover your imperfections tho… However, what I experienced with this concealer is that it causes breakouts. I found a brand that will not only not clog your pores, but even has mild medication in it to cure pimples. I’ve yet to test that out; will share with you if it works.
As for eye concealer, I use MAC too. Reason being? You don’t really grow pimples under your eyes. MAC is like paint to me so I believe the concealing power is damn GOOD!
3. Loose Powder
I use Elizabeth Arden‘s because it really is LOOSE powder. Since we have to touch up every now and then throughout the day, I don’t see why you should cover your face with thick powder from the start.
Dust it over your ‘template’ to set the foundation. There IS a difference if you touch the texture of your skin before and after this step, then you’ll know what I’m talking about. REMEMBER TO SET FOUNDATION!!! xD
4. Eyebrows
I use Empro‘s triangular brow pencil? Crayon? Yea it feels like a crayon. Comes with a brush at the other end.
The special thing about this thing is that the tip is always triangle! Easy, EZ application I promise. No sharpening required too~ You can get this in any SaSa outlets.
Start drawing from the arch till the end. Remember that the arch should always be the darkest colour, followed by the end of your brow. The beginning of your brow till the arch point should be coloured the lightest shade.
5. Eyeshadow
This is the part that brings out all the magic in your eyes. I’m serious! So choose Majorica Majorca‘s glitter range of eyeshadows. You can buy them at any Guardian / Watson (can’t remember which sorry).
This is the thanggg that will give your eyes Blake Lively’s famous subtle, rich brown and gold look.
I shall name Gold (1), Light Brown (2), Dark Brown (3), and Pink (4). Don’t worry; it is not as complicated as it seems. (:
a) Apply Light Brown (2) all over your lids. Don’t go too high up because that’s for another colour, different story.
b) Use a > brush like picture above (I got mine from Bloop they have cheap but fairly good brushes!) and touch Dark Brown (3).
Create that cat eye look at the end of your eyes (only at the end!!!) and don’t forget to line the bottom eye too. Line it, and stop where your pupil sits :
Look at the picture below, I hope it explains what I’m trying so hard to say…
c) Cuz you wanna dip this brush as seen above into Gold (1) and apply it in the inner corner of the eyes and STOP where your pupil starts. Geddit geddit??? ):
Also, sweep Gold (1) all over your brow bones to give them the lift-up effect.
d) Lastly, dip the brush into Pink (4) and concentrate dabbing it ONLY at the spot where your pupil hides underneath your lids. I love this step as it makes your eyes look bigger and brighter!
6. Eyeliner
I’m using kohl pencil from Majorica Majorca (again).
Always sharpen it or you’ll end up drawing big fat lines – NO NO!! NO NO!!!!
Arch it up a lil’ at the end. If you’re not good at it and not ready to practice this, I say stop precisely where your eye line ends.
DO NOT draw a straight line like -_- or it’ll make your eyes look smaller and daymn sepet. We are chinese enough there’s no need to Cina-fied it.
Open your eyes and it’ll look something like this.
7. Curl Lashes and Apply Mascara
I’m using Stage‘s eyelash curler – it is damn nice at first, but it doesn’t grip well after a while I realized. Hmm… But I’m still using it nonetheless – still works for me.
As for mascara, I’m using the above. However, my favourite is the fat one! Don’t remember what the name is, but go to your nearest drugstore and search for the FAT TUBE MASCARA under Maybelline. When I think of mascaras, I think of Maybelline.
Almost there! The eyes is the part that takes up most of the time – all that shading and sweeping and blending… omgosh!
8. Blusher
I personally think that blusher is more important than eyeshadows, eyeliner and mascara. It instantly gives you that ‘wake up’ kissed rosy cheeks! I love this one from MAC (as I said, paint is good lol!)
Just smile away and it’s time to brush on some blusher babes~! I’m using Body Shop’s brush – it’s soft and awesome. <3
9. Lipstick
Honestly? I don’t really apply lipstick because my lips are naturally pinkish already. I’m afraid too much lipstick (esp. those with lead) will penetrate into my lips’ pigments and turn them blackish in the long run! But here I’m using Loreal‘s creamy lisptick in Coral.
10. You’re ready to go!
Comparing my features to Blake Lively to judge our similarity in makeup application is unfair ok~ My point is, this is the kinda warmth these colour hues and tones aka combination can give your face.
I know this post doesn’t focus too much on how-to, but more on the products I use. They help me, and I hope they can now help you too.
Good luck and feel free to ask me any questions!

Hmm..I love make up post..just a few suggestions if you plan on doing more tutorials. The eye make up pictures looks washed out so I cant really see the colors on your eyes. And also you might wanna try drawing lines on the photos to further demonstrate what you wanna explain. It makes it easier for ppl to understand. Other than that the tutorial is awesome!
how much is the bioterm primer btw? And Ive tried MM eye liners..It smudges easily no? Feel like it’s gone after a few hours T__T
Cindy Tey
January 12, 2010 at 3:47 pm
i’m still figuring out how 2 draw lines on my pics. hmm… cuz Disney doesnt even have Word! any suggestions?
the primer shldnt b more than 120 if i’m not mistaken. can lasts very very very very longggg…………….. SERIOUSLY

How do u deal with acne?
Cindy Tey
January 12, 2010 at 3:49 pm
it depends on your skin type tho… cuz the pimple med i use is very strong. if u occasionally have 1 or 2 once in a while then u can try Dalacin T, if you have it the whole face, maybe Leonard Drake’s Dermalogica as a start? (:

January 12, 2010 at 10:46 pm

spf for day and non-spf for night. applies to bb cream and foundation.
reason why never to use spf product at night expecially taking photos its becoz your face will look super white in pictures. besides wearing spf product at night isnt good for the skin.

Dr G BB cream at Sasa outlet RM95 is highly featured in the BB cream range. Haha I’m using etude’s house BB cream and it’s so big tube forever cannot finish. oh gawd. It’s just a so so product only. How come you don’t like it? anyway I like earthy tones too. I think they are the best colors for daily wear.

Cindy Tey
January 13, 2010 at 12:35 am
well it could be, but usually it is caused by natural aging process, sun damage, your actions and attitudes… A healthy diet and exercise might help overall. i’m currently using this new eye gel from Beauty Talk. U can get em’ at any SaSa outlets; quite pricey thou.. for cheaper ones, try St Ives – the one with cucumber extract!

hey cindy.thanks for the tutorial.may i know how much is the lancome lancome foundation? and also, is the majolica majorca eyeshadow long lasting?thanks ya..keep it up!!
Cindy Tey
January 15, 2010 at 10:24 pm
the lancome foundation is around 120 if i’m not mistaken & the MM eyeshadows last from morning to evening for me! Just remember to dust on loose powder onto your eyelids before any eyeshadow application or even the best would cause creasing and tend to fade away quickly.
Nat
January 18, 2010 at 2:12 am
i cant find the lancome foundation..
Cindy Tey
January 18, 2010 at 9:01 pm
huh… how come? go any Parkson & find Lancome?? sure got one… =/

January 20, 2010 at 5:11 am
Eh you should try Lancome’s Hypnose mascara. Its the best! Beats Maybelline’s hands down leh. Also, I have fallen in love with this new product that I bought, its by Benefit, and its called One Hot Minute. Its sort of a luminizer, but I use it as loose powder. Your face will have that sexy glow even without foundation! Love it to bits.

hello cindy. just wondering, eyeliner is after all the eye
shadows right? sumtimes i used pencil eyeliner to line my
eyes after the eye color but then the eyeliner didn’t transfer
well because of the eyeshadow. any tips? im using estee lauder
eye liner
Cindy Tey
February 17, 2010 at 6:06 pm
eye LINER & eye SHADOWS are 2 diff things! do u dust on loose powder onto your lids before applying shadow? & what brand of shadow r u using? these lil things r crucial or the best eye LINER would not stick. it could also be that u didn’t draw hard enough. sometimes, u have to repeat drawing the line a few times for perfection.

hi fhanimri, i would suggest Avene. they used to have a booth in 1Utama but they closed down
but do try look for that brand’s concealer. it looks like a lipstick & is makecare instead of makeup
